Game On! Gamification in the Classroom Level 1
Feedback form is now closed.

Gamification is a trend that is becoming increasingly popular in the education community because of Michael Matera's book, Explore Like a Pirate. The idea of gamification encourages teachers to bring joy into learning and increase student engagement by layering game mechanics over existing curriculum. The purpose of this session is to explore the basics of gamification and how to implement these ideas into classrooms right away, both in large and small scale ways. During the session, attendees will participate in examples of how we gamify, including adding games to lessons (ie-playing a game with crocodile dentist) and seeing how to create a full-year game students participate in to encourage engagement in learning. Participants will receive a slide deck with examples, resources, and ideas linked. Participants will need a Chromebook for this session.
